Sleep Quality and Psychological Well-being in Paediatric Cancer

Thea-Maria Demosthenous is a Research Assistant at the UCL Sleep Education and Research Laboratory. With a background in pharmaceutical science and master’s degrees from University College London (UCL) and King’s College London, her research focuses on sleep and psychological well-being in paediatric oncology populations. She is particularly interested in the influence of environmental and family factors on children’s sleep and emotional adjustment during and after cancer treatment.
Thea-Maria employs both quantitative and qualitative research methods in her work, integrating data-driven approaches with in-depth qualitative insights to better understand the complex interplay between sleep, well-being, and the wider psychosocial context. Through her research, she aims to inform interventions that support healthier sleep and improved quality of life for children and families affected by serious illness.
